ORTHODONTICS

Dr. Anderson’s Experience with Orthodontics

Nine years ago, Dr. Anderson added orthodontics to his dental practice after completing additional training beyond dental school. Since then, he’s been realigning teeth and remaking smiles one patient at a time, especially using Invisalign® clear aligners. Since Dr. Anderson has spent so many years treating patients suffering from TMD (commonly called TMJ) he brings a uniquely qualified look to orthodontics and understands how changing the bite affects many other conditions that can either help or worsen symptoms and conditions of TMD.

Understanding how orthodontics can not only change and improve a client’s smile, but also help them have healthy, functional, and pain-free jaw and facial muscles is what sets Dr. Anderson apart in his approach to aligning teeth and the bite.

Purpose of Treatment

Orthodontics is more than straightening teeth: it is aligning the bite with the jaw in a way that promotes healthy, long-lasting function. Of course, alignment of the teeth in this process is also aesthetically beautiful. For some patients, it’s purely cosmetic; for others, it’s a medical necessity to prevent or eliminate painful symptoms of a poorly aligned bite and jaws. No matter the reason, orthodontics will give you the healthy, straight, beautiful smile you’ve always wanted!

Orthodontics can solve many problems:

  • Overcrowding
  • Crossbite
  • Overbite
  • Underbite

Dr. Anderson uses Invisalign® because of the advantages it offers over traditional braces. They’re comfortable, nearly invisible, and fully removable. Unlike traditional brackets and wires, the teeth can be easily cleaned during treatment.

Symptoms of Issue

Crooked teeth are easy to spot, but other problems go along with teeth alignment irregularities, also called malocclusions. Those issues include sensitive teeth, sore jaw, headaches, migraines, facial or neck pain, gum irritation, and the appearance of the face.

What this Treatment Involves

After you decide on Invisalign®, Dr. Anderson will devise a treatment plan. The next step is to use 3-D digital images of your teeth to create custom aligning trays. Once the planning is done, you’ll get a unique set of aligners or trays. The number varies by patient and the degree of treatment needed.

These aligner trays will be changed approximately every two weeks, with intermittent checks with Dr. Anderson to verify progress.
